Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Application Live ?
No, not yet. The validation process, and all the documents and surveys may take a while to compile. We are checking daily.
Can I Object Now ?
No, not until the application is live on the council planning system.
Is There A Petition ?
Petitions carry little weight in planning terms, we'd urge everyone to submit full objection letters, when the application goes live.
Have The Council Approved It ?
No, it will have to go through the full planning application process. The planning officers and planning committee will have to consider and compare the benefits of the application, and weigh them against any potential harm to the residential amenity, and the local highways network. It's not a "done deal" that it will be approved.
Is This An Addutional Mosque ?
No, the proposed development is a replacement facility for 91 Waterloo Rd, which is part of the Bridge Close Regeneration scheme. The council have issued a compulsory purchase order on HICC, who were offered a replacement building on Bridge Close, but refused.
Are The Council Paying For The Mosque ?
The site is privately owned, and is valuable. The council legally only have to pay the market value for the Waterloo Rd, plus relocation expenses. However, we have evidence that they are doing more than this. For us, the jury is out on this one.
